Loft insulation is simple in theory and easy to get wrong in practice. Material gets stuffed into the eaves and blocks the airflow the roof needs. Boards go straight down on the joists and flatten the wool. Downlighters get buried. Hatches are left uninsulated and un-draughtproofed, quietly leaking the warmth that the rest of the job was meant to keep in.
We have spent two decades putting those things right in London homes, so we do them properly the first time. Every job starts with a survey: joist depth measured, existing material assessed, ventilation path checked, and any damp or condensation staining investigated before a single roll comes off the van.

Call, email or send the form. We ask a handful of questions — property type, roughly when it was built, what is up there now — so the surveyor arrives with the right expectations and the right samples.

We measure the loft, check joist depths and ventilation, look for anything that needs fixing first, and write a fixed price. If nothing needs doing, we say so.

Installation
Dust sheets down, hatch protected, work done. Half a day for most insulation jobs, a full day where boarding, lighting or a ladder are included.

A survey before a price
We never quote from a postcode and a guess. Someone looks in your loft, measures the joist depth, checks the ventilation path and the existing material, and only then writes a fixed price. There is no call-out charge for this.
Work to current standards
Mineral wool goes in to the 270mm depth recommended by current building regulations, eaves ventilation gaps are kept clear, and boarding is raised on battens so it never crushes the insulation underneath.
Public liability insurance
We carry public liability cover and can send you the certificate before we start. If you are a landlord or managing agent and need it on file, just ask.
Clean, careful, and out of your way
Dust sheets on landings, boards over the hatch, old material bagged and taken away. Most jobs are a half-day to a day, so you get your house back the same evening.
Straight answers
If your loft already has adequate insulation, we will tell you so rather than sell you a top-up you do not need. Being told "you're fine" is a perfectly normal outcome of one of our surveys.

Loft insulation — the questions we hear most
How much does loft insulation cost in London?
It depends on the floor area of your loft, how easy it is to get into, whether old material has to come out first, and which product suits the roof. That is why every price we give follows a free survey rather than a phone estimate. As a rough guide, a straightforward mineral wool top-up in a typical three-bedroom semi is a half-day job, while a full makeover combining insulation, boarding, lighting and a new ladder takes a day. How long does the work take?
Most lofts are insulated to the recommended 270mm depth in half a day. Adding raised boarding usually extends that to a full day, and fitting a ladder at the same time adds a couple of hours. We give you a time window when we book, and we work in one visit wherever the loft allows it.
Do I need to clear the loft first?
It helps enormously, and it keeps the price down. If the loft is full and you cannot shift everything yourself, tell us at survey stage — we can move and re-site belongings as part of the job, but we would rather quote for it honestly than discover it on the morning.
Will insulating the loft make it colder up there?
Yes, and that is the point. Insulation at ceiling-joist level keeps warmth in the rooms below and leaves the roof space cold. That is why we always keep the eaves ventilation path clear, and why water tanks and pipes above the insulation need lagging. If you want the loft itself to be warm — because it is a room — the insulation belongs at rafter level instead, which is where SuperQuilt multifoil earns its keep.
Can I still use the loft for storage?
You can, provided the boarding is raised. Laying chipboard straight onto the joists squashes 270mm of insulation into 100mm and throws away most of the benefit you just paid for. We fit boarding on battens or loft legs so there is a full, uncompressed layer underneath and a flat, safe deck on top.
