SuperQuilt multifoil insulation
A/A+ fire ratedWhere a Islington loft has already been converted, insulation has to follow the rafters rather than the floor. SuperQuilt does that in 40mm instead of the 200mm-plus a wool build-up would need.
North London loft specialists
A loft that is warm at the ceiling and cold above it, with storage you can reach safely and a light you can switch on: that is what we do for Islington homeowners. One survey, one visit, one fixed price.

Why it matters
Which is why a free survey is worth half an hour of your time — the measurement itself usually settles whether a Islington loft is worth spending anything on.
Islington's homes
Islington forms part of North London, an area whose housing is characterised by Victorian and Edwardian terraces, generous interwar semis and a scattering of post-war infill. The bulk of it went up during the 1870s through the 1930s, decades before insulation was a design consideration at all, and what sits above the ceilings today is usually a retrofit added at some point in the last fifty years to whatever standard was current at the time.
That matters because the standard has moved repeatedly. Lofts insulated in the 1980s typically received 100mm; earlier work was often 50mm or nothing. Current guidance is 270mm. A great many Islington houses therefore contain insulation that was entirely adequate when it was fitted and is now doing roughly a third of the work it should be — while the homeowner reasonably assumes the loft is 'done'.
Many of the larger houses were divided into flats decades ago, so the loft often sits above a top-floor conversion with its own separate access. It is the sort of thing a survey establishes in ten minutes and a phone quote never can.
Our services in Islington
Every one of these begins with the same free survey and ends with a fixed price agreed before anything starts.

The standard job, done to standard: two layers, the second laid across the joists to kill the cold bridge, eaves left clear. Most Islington lofts are finished in half a day.

A squared, edged deck reached from the hatch, with the eaves left open so the roof keeps breathing. Sized to what you will actually use rather than the whole Islington footprint.

Fitted in a day, finished to match your landing, with the hatch insulated and draught-sealed as part of the same job.

Insulation, boarding, lighting and a ladder handled together in one visit — cheaper and better sequenced than buying the four separately.
Describe the property and what is bothering you about it, and we will recommend the right combination — or tell you that nothing needs doing.
Where we work
We are in and around Islington most weeks, and the same teams cover Camden, Hackney and Upper Holloway. Coverage across North London is continuous rather than patchy, so a postcode on the boundary is not a problem.

Questions & answers
Not for insulation, boarding or a ladder. The line falls at conversion — turning the loft into a habitable room — which is a structural job requiring building control sign-off and a different trade entirely.
Free, with no call-out fee and no pressure. A meaningful proportion of our Islington surveys conclude that the loft is already adequately insulated and the homeowner should keep their money — which is a perfectly normal outcome.
Usually, and often noticeably. Loft insulation depth is recorded directly by the assessor, so increasing it from 100mm to 270mm generally moves the rating. We hand over product documentation and declared performance figures so your assessor records what is actually there.
Certainly. Doing the ladder in the same visit means the boarding is planned around where the ladder lands, which is considerably better than retrofitting one to a deck that was not designed for it.
